ABSA 'New Service Update' email scam
If anyone gets the following email, please be aware that it is a phishing scam. Basically the email directs you to a fake site that will then ask you to verify your details. In reality this fake site is just trying to obtain your banking details.

What you will notice is that the senders email address is no-reply@service-update.co.za. If the email really were from ABSA it would be from something like no-reply@absa.co.za.
Another thing you may have noticed is that although the link they provide suggests that it's pointing to: https:important/server/upgrade/absa.co.za, if you did in fact click it you would have been sent to an address that has nothing to do with ABSA.co.za.
If you have fallen prey to one of these Phishing sites get in touch with your relevant bank or financial institute immediately.

DO NOT follow the link in the email as you will be redirected to a fake site that will attempt to capture your banking login & passwords.

Thank you for this information.... I have been getting a lot of this e-mail lately... and was not too sure about it.. Cos i also hear on the radio that absa will never send you e-mails asking you to provide your details.
