Think Before You Think!

An interesting article I read about the mind and how it makes decisions. Reading through the article you can't help but stop and analyse what else is going on in your head apart from reading the article.
It surprised me and also scared me a little.
I liked the analogy that the mind is like a Swiss-Army knife. Although I’m pretty sure I could name a few people who are of an inferior brand.

It is an interesting article, and just shows you why it is so important having a 'Stop-loss' in place when hedge betting! Suppose it also explains why some people are shop-a-holics, yet others are so frugal. Emotions play a part in even the subtlest thought streams.
I believe having a basic degree of 'inner-philosophy' is important - in order to rationalise your rationalisations. Seeing things in 'black' or 'white' seems to be easier than sitting in the 'grey' area. The 'grey' area contains the bigger picture, but the problem is that you end up being rather indecisive... just to be objective :)
Good point of the spending part. That's where I was going with it. It's amzing how some people will freak out at the thought of debt. Debt = loss. While others will spend, spend, spend and feel good for it. Their emotions get the better of them.
It's all well and good seeing the 'grey' in situations but alot of time people spend too much time throwing up the pros and cons and end up with nothing. I agree that all outcomes need to be considered before making the decision but at the same time you need to act on those facts. Sitting in the middle will get you know where.
