Exploring the ocean with Google Earth
Google have added a new 'ocean map' feature to their already impressive Google Earth. It will be interesting to see how well it is received, and what sort of usage it will enjoy (or not enjoy).
If you are like me, you may be wondering how interesting maps of the ocean floor can be? Land maps are obviously of interest to us land-lubbers, but the sea? After looking a little deeper, I see there is a lot more to it than you would suspect.
Viewing the layout of the ocean floor isn't the only thing that can be done. Google Earth have partnered with various organisations - like the National Geographic and BBC. This means that you can get info and imagery on the oceans inhabitants, find the best surf spots, tour shipwrecks and more.

A bit of a stir has been caused within the Google Ocean community, as some believe the site of the legendary city of Atlantis has been identified.
The supposed site is off of North-West Africa, in an area consistent with the speculated location of Atlantis. All this speculation was kicked off by the discovery of a grid like 'street formations' spanning the size of a small country.
Google have said it's an anomaly caused by the boats scanning the ocean floor :)
The underwater image can be found at co-ordinates 31 15'15.53N 24 15'30.53W.
They found the legendary city of Atlantis did they... big deal.
Check out the 'last of the Samurai' as found here on Google Street browser (in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania of all places!).
